CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is one of the most advanced cosmetic dentistry technologies, which, through a special computer scanning and modeling process, enables production of meticulously designed tooth restorations. Simply put, CEREC – esthetic ceramics in one visit.
An experienced dentist produces one of several dental restorations: inlay, onlay, dental crown or porcelain dental veneer. Dental veneers are accurate, durable and esthetic way to keep a nice smile.
CEREC dental veneers are tiny plates made of very fine natural materials (porcelain). Veneers are designed to be adhesively cemented to the front surface of the tooth. Dental veneers are used to improve the esthetics, e.g. to adjust teeth form or conceal discoloration, to close small gaps between the teeth, to restore chipped or worn teeth, also teeth affected by caries, or to correct minor teeth misalignments. CEREC dental veneers restore dental esthetics and functionality.
According to individual preferences, 10 upper and 10 lower teeth (excluding molars) are eligible for dental veneering. Visit duration depends on the situation, but usually preparation, modeling and veneer production for 4 teeth takes about 6 hours.
CEREC veneers do not compromise the integrity of the adjacent teeth. Their composition is very similar to the real tooth enamel. Extremely smooth surface of the restoration prevents plaque accumulation, helps to maintain primary gloss and color. Veneers are well-tolerated by the human body. However, it should be emphasized that dental veneers are not recommended when the patient’s teeth are very seriously damaged (severe caries, trauma, multiple fillings). Dental veneers produced by CEREC do not chip, are durable and long-lasting (they serve up to 10-15 years). Their care is exactly the same as of healthy teeth.
Compared with esthetic composite restorations, dental veneers costs slightly more, but comes with advantages – durability, strength and ideal esthetics.
